Join experienced TV writer Kara Lee Burk in a one-day crash-course on the inner-workings of a TV sitcom writers room. In just a few hours we’ll cover general / staffing meetings, breaking the season arc and individual episodes as a room, and give you a chance to work as a writers room in a low-stakes / fun environment…equipping you with the skills you’ll need to hit the ground running once staffed on a show.
Kara Lee Burk Kara Lee began writing while working with The Second City-Detroit and various sketch comedy troupes in New York City. An alumni of the Warner Bros Television Writers Workshop, she has been staffed as a writer on Romantically Challenged (ABC), Melissa & Joey (ABC Family) and The Mr. Peabody & Sherman Show (Dreamworks / Netflix). She has developed multiple series, wrote on Hanazuki, a bunch digital shorts for Equestrian Girls and The Littlest Pet Shop (all on YouTube) and is a writer for the upcoming series’ Costume Quest (Amazon).

- The Ruby LA has a no-refund policy on all classes and shows. If we need to cancel or re-schedule a class for any reason, you are entitled to take that class or classes equal to the admission price of that class. You may use your class credit for up to two years, after which time it expires.
- The Ruby LA reserves the right to replace a course instructor, without notice, and at any time, with another equally qualified course instructor.
- The Ruby LA also reserves the right to postpone or cancel a course if an emergency or unforeseen conflict arises. In the event of a complete cancellation, students’ tuition will be refunded or credited. Any fees incurred by students for travel, lodging, etc. will not be reimbursed by the Ruby LA.
