Caitlin Durante
Instructor: Caitlin Durante

Podcast host Caitlin Durante (The Bechdel Cast) and producer Samee Junio (Forever 35 Podcast, Hello, LionFace podcasts) will take you through the wondrous world of creating a podcast, from finding your idea, to posting your first episode, and beyond. The creative, technical, and promotional sides of podcasting will be covered, including developing a strong premise, purchasing equipment vs. hiring an engineer, and posting episodes online.

Do I need a theme song? Should I have a co-host and/or guests? What makes a good logo? How long should each episode be? What are the benefits of editing? Should my podcast have a Twitter? Can I make money from this? With their vast knowledge and experience, Caitlin and Samee will answer these questions and mooooooooooore!

After this 3-hour workshop with Caitlin and Samee, you will be ready to get your poddy started!

Caitlin Durante is a writer and comedian. After earning an MFA in Screenwriting, she went on to work as a story analyst for such companies as ScreenCraft and Amazon Studios. She has taught writing and comedy courses at Boston University, the Los Angeles LGBT Center, and the Nerdist School, and she currently freelances as a script coach and consultant. Caitlin performs comedy all over the country and in such festivals as the Women in Comedy Festival and the Out of Bounds Comedy Festival, to name a few. She also is the creator and co-host of The Bechdel Cast, a podcast that examines the portrayal of women in film.

Samee Junio (Samee/They/Their) is a podcast producer and audio engineer (Ruby Tone Radio, Hello, LionFace Podcasts). Since 2012, Samee has helped launch around 30 podcasts and shockingly only 2 were theirs. They’ve estimated that they’ve recorded about 700ish hours of podcasts so far. Samee’s a sucker for a good pun, a clever turn of phrase, and a clunky portmanteau.
