Wanna get better at shooting your comedy shorts and sketches? Or are you new to the skill and want to learn as much as possible in a supportive environment lead by an experienced outside eye? In this class, we will do just that. We will take one to two sketches for each student (depending on final headcount of class) and each student will produce and direct the filming of that sketch!

It will be a truly collaborative and hands-on environment where we take your idea from a paper sketch to a short sketch for the screen. On Day One students will workshop their sketches to be filmed, crew up with actors and crew from class, and get their shoot dates. Then, over the remaining days, we will shoot the sketches!

The Ruby space and any public location in a 5 mile radius may be used for filming. Some film gear will be provided. Students are welcome to bring additional gear and must provide a hard drive in class on their shoot day to obtain and keep all their footage from the shoot.

(Although we won’t have time to edit everyone’s sketch in class, a list and discussion of editing resources will be part of the course.)

Lindsay Stidham holds an MFA in screenwriting from the American Film Institute. She has overseen two scripts from script to screen as a writer/ producer. SPOONER, starring Matthew Lillard (SLAMDANCE), and DOUCHEBAG (SUNDANCE) both released theatrically. Most recently Lindsay sold PLAY NICE starring Mary Lynn Rajskub. The mini series was distributed on Amazon and Hulu. Lindsay’s short film TIL DEATH DO US PART premieres at Walla Walla this summer, and her feature script THE FUCK TRUCK was named number one on The Bitch List 2018. Lindsay has taught screenwriting at the New York Film Academy. She’s also taught private workshops for minority writers to help create a safe space for input and feedback. Additionally, Lindsay produces and co-hosts WELCOME TO THE CLAMBAKE recently named as a must listen podcast by The A.V. Club. Instagram: @linzsnaps Twitter: @lindsaystidham
