An Update About this Year’s Queer Comedy Festival

With the national pain, fear, grief and anger after the murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Tony McDade, and many, many BIPOC victims of systemic racism – it probably comes as no surprise that many creatives and comedians have been feeling a severe drop in creative output.

As a direct result, we received a low number of submissions for this year’s RQCF2020. And after some thought, we feel the submissions from our artists won’t be served by being highlighted at such a short festival. We thank them heartily for the work they put into their submissions and if they post them with #RQCF2020, we will signal boost them as much as possible.

But! We are not canceling RQCF2020!  We are turning it into an open salon about the state of the world, the theater, our new mutual aid initiative, and some self-care tips to help manage burn out and fatigue. This event is open to ALL marginalized voices AND our Allies. And we enthusiastically encourage everyone to attend.

We host this community event in honor of all the Queer Rights Activists.  From demonstrators at The Black Cat, to the demonstrators at Stonewall, to the activists of the AIDS epidemic and any who grew the movement and/or devoted their lives to fundamental civil rights. They have been foundational to intersectional organization.

Please join us here at 6:00pm (PDT) on Sunday June 14th. We hope to see you there.
